Employee Spotlight: December 2025
Employee Spotlight: Vicki Turman
We are pleased to announce that Vicki Turman, Director of HR Applications Support, will retire from UNC Charlotte at the end of December 2025, concluding a career marked by exceptional leadership and transformational impact. Vicki joined the University in September 2018 after more than a decade with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where she held several roles and ultimately served as Director of Business Systems Technology. When she arrived at UNC Charlotte, she stepped into a newly created leadership role and brought direction, structure, and support to four existing HR Systems Support positions—strengthening the team and establishing a formal support model. She quickly became a trusted mentor, providing guidance, clarity, and professional development opportunities that helped her team grow in confidence, capability, and collaboration.
As Director, Vicki’s leadership has been central to many of the University’s most significant HR technical initiatives. She guided the implementation of the Cornerstone LMS, multiple phases of the NinerWorks ePAF redesign, the transition of EHRA personnel actions from the PD-7 form to NinerTalent, and she delivered major process improvements across HR and Payroll. Her work consistently reduced manual effort, improved accuracy, and strengthened coordination across HR, Payroll, Benefits, and OneIT.
Vicki’s steady presence was especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic, when rapidly changing federal and state requirements demanded fast, coordinated solutions. She oversaw the development of new leave types, calculations, and reporting under tight deadlines while supporting HR and Business Affairs through unprecedented complexity. Throughout her time at UNC Charlotte, Vicki has been known for her organization, mentorship, and collaborative approach. Her legacy is a stronger, more resilient HR systems environment—and she will be deeply missed as she begins her well-earned retirement!
