Wishing a Wonderful Retirement to Chris Maher
It’s with a mix of gratitude and sadness that we announce the retirement of Chris Maher, a pivotal figure in our research and technological advancement for the past five years.
For the last five years, Chris has been instrumental in leading our High-Performance Computing (HPC) team, guiding us through a period of immense growth. His leadership was crucial as we navigated the expansion of research needs on our journey to becoming an R1 institution and embracing the capabilities of AI.
Bringing significant experience from industry giants like Lenovo and IBM, Chris didn’t just understand the technology; he truly understood our researchers’ needs. He formed beneficial alliances across the institution and externally, never hesitated to pursue competitive grants, and was relentless in improving the overall HPC environment and user experience.
When Chris joined the team, he made it clear his goal was to “give back to the community,” and he has achieved that mission with remarkable success. His dedication leaves a powerful legacy of capability, collaboration, and service.
We thank Chris for his leadership, foresight, and commitment. We wish him a wonderful and fulfilling retirement!
