OneIT Employee Spotlights: June 2025

At the end of June, we will bid farewell to two remarkable individuals who have collectively dedicated over 54.5 years of service to the University. Their contributions have shaped our community in countless ways, and their presence will be deeply missed.

Before they embark on their well-deserved retirements, we asked them to share some fun reflections from their time here.

Christine Kicinski

I’ve had multiple job titles over the years but as of today it is Business & Technology Application Analyst

In one sentence – what does your job entail?

Patience, kindness, ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness and in-depth knowledge of the systems I support.

How many years have you been with OneIT?

30.5, my first year, 1994. I worked for the Library.

What’s the best advice you can give the next person taking your position?

Be kind, be patient, smile and always be willing to go the extra mile.

What are you most looking forward to post-retirement?

Living on vacation every day of the year.

What will you miss most about your job?

When it comes right down to it, it’s always about the people we support more than the job itself.

What was one of your biggest accomplishments while working here that you are most proud of?

I’ve had many accomplishments over the years, however, the one project that stands out is revamping the campus wide access control infrastructure.

If you could travel anywhere in the world (for free) where would you go and why?

Indonesia – Dragons, Reefs and the Spice Islands.

Information Security Compliance Manager

In one sentence – what does your job entail?

My job involves guiding individuals in making security decisions for themselves and the university that comply with the policies, standards, and guidelines that are in place to assure the protection of university information.

How many years have you been with OneIT?

24

What’s the best advice you can give the next person taking your position?

Meet people and build a rapport with them in order to foster collaborative and positive relationships.

What are you most looking forward to post-retirement?

Spending more spontaneous time with friends, family, the grandkids (and turning off my scheduled morning alarm!).

What will you miss most about your job?

I’ll miss the people and the interactions that I’ve enjoyed over the years.

What was one of your biggest accomplishments while working here that you are most proud of?

I’ve had a lot of significant experiences in my career over the last 24 years – all very different but rewarding in their own way. … I think what I’m most proud of has been my involvement in activities that have led to a deeper understanding of the importance of information security (even when it came in the form of those sneaky phishing emails).

If you could travel anywhere in the world (for free) where would you go and why?

I’d go to Italy and immerse myself in the culture (and drink a little wine).
