New Feature: Mobile Access for Delegated Gmail Accounts
Google has updated the Gmail app for iOS and Android. You can now read and send emails for delegated accounts right from your mobile device.
Why This Matters
You no longer need a desktop computer to check shared or delegated inboxes, you can respond to important messages right from your phone. No extra setup is required if you have been granted delegated access on the web.
Key Features
- Easy Account Switching: Tap your profile picture in the top right corner to change accounts.
- Unread Counters: See how many unread emails are waiting in delegated inboxes.
- Clear Sender Details: Messages sent on behalf of another user clearly display the “sent by” information.
Important Tips
- If you currently have assigned delegates to your personal account, take the time to make sure that their access is still needed.
- The Gmail app offers an “All inboxes” view that shows emails from every linked account in one list. If this is selected, messages from your delegated accounts will mix with your personal emails. To keep your email accounts separate, avoid using “All inboxes.” Select each account individually from the profile menu instead.
