Before You’re Back: Explore What’s New

Zoom has introduced some exciting updates that will change the way you navigate and use the platform this fall. Before the semester kicks off, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with these updates. The resources below will help you get comfortable with what’s new and make the most of these tools from day one.

The New Zoom Web Experience

Zoom has completely refreshed the web portal with a simplified, modern interface that makes it easier to manage your meetings, settings, and account. The new experience consolidates navigation, reduces clutter, and puts your most-used tools front and center. Users can enable the new interface by logging into the web portal and enabling this button at the top of the page. NOTE: This change will become mandatory in early October 2026.

What’s changed:

Zoom AI in Education

Zoom’s AI tools are designed to save time, enhance learning, and help educators focus on what matters most — teaching. Even if you don’t teach directly, these tools can help you summarize meetings, create content, or collaborate across departments. Here’s how AI is transforming the classroom experience:

Lecture Summaries in Your LMS

AI-generated lecture recaps are now available directly in Canvas, through Zoom’s LTI Pro integration. Students get email notifications when summaries are ready.

Meeting Summaries & AI Catch-Up

Tools to Communicate & Engage

These three tools make it easier to connect with students and colleagues outside live meetings — whether you’re scheduling time, sharing information asynchronously, or collaborating visually.

Zoom Scheduler — Office Hours & Appointments Made Easy

Create a booking page so others can schedule time with you — no more back-and-forth emails. Set your availability, share your link, and let students or colleagues book directly. Great for office hours, advising sessions, tutoring, or departmental meetings.

Zoom Scheduler Availability Poll

Zoom Scheduler comes with an availability poll option (like Doodle). You can ask attendees what meeting time works best for them.

Whiteboard — Interactive Collaboration

Use Zoom Whiteboard for brainstorming, visual explanations, and collaborative exercises. Now with “Create from Meetings” — AI turns your meeting content into organized whiteboard layouts.
