Employee Spotlight: June 2026
The Office of OneIT is incredibly proud to celebrate Jonathan Garrett, a Technology Analyst who consistently brings outstanding service and dedication to UNC Charlotte. Known across campus as a true “IT guru,” Jonathan does much more than just manage computer hardware and fix technical issues; he actively takes care of our university community. He regularly visits offices in the Fretwell building to check on faculty and staff, fixing small tech problems before they turn into big ones. No matter how stressful a technical failure might be, Jonathan always brings a bright smile, endless patience, and a positive attitude that lifts everyone’s spirits.
Our campus community has shared endless praise for Jonathan’s unique approach to IT support. Colleagues from the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences note that his cheerful demeanor and friendly check-ins make any technical challenge feel much less daunting. Over his years at the university, Jonathan has built deep trust through simple, kind actions (like wearing his nametag every day so no one feels embarrassed if they forget his name). By combining high-level technical expertise with genuine empathy, Jonathan makes our faculty and staff feel heard, valued, and safe. He truly represents the very best of OneIT’s mission to connect technology with human well-being.
“I very much appreciate that Mr. Garrett makes rounds to the Fretwell offices/departments to
check in and head off potential problems before they metastasize into something worse. He is
equally adept at PC and Mac platforms, which is a tremendous boon. More than that, he has a
positive and friendly demeanor that never fails to brighten my day.”Chris Boyer, Dean of the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences
