AI Helpful Tips: AI Student and Staff Checklists

UNC Charlotte is committed to leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance our academic and administrative work. To ensure ethical and responsible use, we’ve established key guidelines for everyone in our community.

For Staff: Using AI Responsibly

Staff are encouraged to understand how AI can assist their work, always adhering to the university’s Guidelines for Data Handling. Use OneIT-approved AI tools (like Copilot, Gemini, NotebookLM, Zoom, etc.) for data up to and including Level 2.

For Students: AI in Your Coursework

Your professor determines if and how AI can be used in their course. Always check with your instructor if you’re unsure. Even when permitted, remember that you must remain the primary author of your work.
