Manager, Identity & Access Management

In one sentence – what does your job entail?

My role at the University entails working with the rest of the IAM team to manage the lifecycle of NinerNET accounts, the administration of several core services such as Google, Office365, web-based authentication, and access control platforms. I also develop and maintain a core set of web-based applications such as my.charlotte.edu, ninernet.charlotte.edu, and directory.charlotte.edu.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?

Never stop learning. Knowing how to learn and adapt quickly will prepare a person better than learning any one specific technology.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

Like all “Xennials”, I grew up during a period of rapid growth and innovation in the consumer electronics industry, which gave me an affinity for technology.

What is something that might surprise us about you?

I enjoy all aspects of music and have dabbled in music production over the years as a hobbyist.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am proud of becoming an alum of UNC Charlotte after graduating with my M.S. in Cybersecurity in 2019.

What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?

Playing video games.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?

If I have 30 minutes free, I’ll usually read about a random topic that interests me or call and chat with family.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Expand my musical knowledge by learning new instruments.
