Important Update: Login change for some UNC Charlotte Applications

UNC Charlotte is committed to continuously improving the security and usability of our digital services. Over the coming months, we will be undertaking a significant upgrade to our authentication system, migrating select applications from the current Shibboleth (WebAuth) platform to Microsoft Entra ID. This transition will introduce a slightly different, yet intuitive, login experience for all users.
While the core functionality of accessing these applications will remain unchanged, you will notice updates to the appearance and flow of the sign-in process. These changes are designed to enhance security and streamline your login experience.
Key Change for Users:
A notable change you will encounter is how you log in. Users will now be required to log in using their full UNC Charlotte email address (e.g., NinerNet@charlotte.edu). Please remember to use your complete email address for all future logins to the migrated applications. Here is a peek at the updated login screen.
Migration Schedule:
To ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption, the migration will be rolled out in phases. Please take note of the schedule below to be aware of when specific applications will be impacted:
Dates | Application |
---|---|
Phase 1 – June 6, 2025 | Pre-Travel Authorization Tool, SDARS |
Phase 2 – June 20, 2025 | VACert, PATH |
Phase 3 – July 11, 2025 | eGPS, Malibu |
Phase 4 – July 25, 2025 | NinerWorks, Academic Petition |
Phase 5 – September 5, 2025 | Appeals |
We understand that changes to essential systems can sometimes raise questions. If you have any questions or concerns about this transition to Entra ID, please don’t hesitate to reach out to appdev-group@charlotte.edu. We are here to support you through this process and ensure a seamless experience.
