UNC Charlotte Donates Computers to E2D to Support Digital Access
In 2025, UNC Charlotte donated 989 refurbished computers to Eliminate the Digital Divide (E2D), a nonprofit that provides laptops to families without access to essential technology at home. E2D collects and refurbishes donated laptops through student‑run technology labs and redistributes them to households in need, helping close the opportunity gap created by the digital divide.
Since 2013, E2D has partnered with more than 170 schools and 171 nonprofits, distributing over 68,000 computers and reaching an estimated 217,000 people across North Carolina. UNC Charlotte has been partnering with E2D since 2022. UNC Charlotte’s 2025 donation strengthens this effort by providing nearly 1,000 additional devices that will support students completing homework, families applying for jobs, and individuals accessing vital online services.
The partnership highlights UNC Charlotte’s ongoing commitment to community impact and digital equity, ensuring retired University technology continues to create opportunity for families throughout the region.
