Windows Computer Management: Azure Cloud Join

The Office of OneIT is transitioning Windows computer management from Active Directory to Azure Cloud Join. This allows for remote deployment, better supporting a hybrid workforce. Deployment begins with new Academic Affairs computers for Spring 2025, and both old (SCCM/Intune) and new (Azure Cloud Join) systems will run in parallel for a few years. Windows Hello Authentication

Azure Cloud Join computers will use Windows Hello for local authentication, including facial recognition (on newer laptops) and a user-set PIN (6-127 characters). Windows Hello is required for offline access beyond 24 hours.

Deployment Plan

Initial deployment is for new and re-imaged computers. A migration schedule will be developed. OneIT staff can experience this by submitting a ticket to desktop support; please wait until the week of April 21.
