Employee Spotlight: April 2025

Elizabeth Mullis
Job Title
Business Process Analyst
In one sentence – what does your job entail?
My position involves doing research and reviewing current business processes at the University in order to recommend ways to improve or streamline those processes.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
My advice would be to ask a lot of questions and get to know as many people as you can. You never know when you might need to reach out to a contact for help or to solve a problem. Having a network of people you can reach out to can make a big difference in your career.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I have always loved puzzles and “Whodunit” mysteries, and I feel that process improvement uses some of the same skills. You may not have all the pieces of the puzzle, but your job is to ask questions and figure it out. I love that my position gives me a chance to use those same skills!
What is something that might surprise us about you?
I’m a HUGE nature nerd! I have plants, pretty rocks, acorns, and sometimes a beautiful leaf I found as trinkets at my desk so I can keep nature close by.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my resilience. I have learned to treat adversity as an opportunity for growth and to learn from my mistakes to be a better version of myself.
What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
When indoors, I enjoy reading, jigsaw puzzles, board games, and watching movies or playing video games with my family. When outdoors, I love exploring forests, hiking, camping and generally being in nature.
When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
I recently found the craft books that are sticker by number (similar to paint by number, just with stickers). They are so relaxing and when I’m done with one of the images, I have a cool picture I can frame or give as a gift.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would like to learn how to quilt. My grandmother started a cathedral window quilt and she worked on it only during winter. When she passed away I received the in progress quilt and I would love to be able to complete it and hopefully pass it down to my children someday.
Are you Team Apple or Team Android?
Team Apple.
