Google Groups Email Accounts Rename

Google Groups email accounts will be changed to @charlotte.edu on March 12, 2024. While we anticipate minimal to no impact to Groups users or members, there are a few items to note:

• Old Group email addresses – The @uncc.edu version of a Group’s email address will continue to function as an alias. All emails for both versions of a Group’s email address will continue to go to the same inbox. No mail will be lost as a result of this change.
• Shared drives – Shared drives connected to a Group’s email address will continue to function as normal.
• Third-party services – If a Google Group’s email address was used to create an account with a third-party service, the login method may be affected. Unfortunately, OneIT cannot control the third-party services. However, you can either work with the vendor to resolve or use a different login method.
• Group memberships – Group memberships will be updated in June 2024 from @uncc.edu to @charlotte.edu.
• Inactive Groups – Inactive Groups or Groups with zero membership will be deleted.
• Website & communication updates – If a Google Groups email address is listed on any websites, communications, documentation, etc, you will have to update the email address from @uncc.edu to @charlotte.edu manually.
