Zoom Phone coming December 19
On Tuesday, December 19, the majority of campus phone numbers will switch to Zoom Phone. Note: full-time Advisor lines and analog phones (fax lines, blue lights and emergency phones) will not change until early February 2024.
phone lines migrating in december:
- You will see a Zoom Phone tab in your Zoom Client on or around December 11, but it won’t fully work, please wait for an official email from The Office of OneIT on December 19 before you begin using it.
- Voicemails: They will not be transferred to Zoom. If you want to save voicemails, follow the instructions in this FAQ, save them to Google Drive or Dropbox, and then delete them from the current system by December 15.
- Desk Phones: For those that have gotten approval to keep their desk phones, they will be reconfigured and unavailable for use from Monday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. to Tuesday, December 19 at around 12:30 p.m. You can continue to use Jabber during this time. If you currently use Jabber and are not using your physical desk phone, please bring your desk phone to one of these locations as soon as possible.
No changes to the existing phone system
Because we are phasing out the current phone system, all change requests (including changing displays, canceling lines, setting up new lines, phone displays, and voicemail) are paused until January 2. Here are some helpful Zoom Phone FAQs to prepare you. Please visit the Zoom Phone web page at zoomphone.charlotte.edu, which will always include the most up-to-date information on this project.
