spam filters sept 2023 update

Categories: News

On Tuesday, September 19 at 6:00 a.m., you will start seeing email messages in your Spam folder as the Google spam filters are re-activated. Since May, OneIT has relied on a different system resulting in spam messages being delivered to the inbox and labeled with [EXTERNAL] or [SUSPICIOUS]. Many community members have raised concerns about this new process so we are reverting back to using Google.

You will start seeing messages in your Spam folder and you will be able to decide whether or not it is actually spam. You will also be able to tag email in your inbox as spam. You may also still get [EXTERNAL][SUSPICIOUS] email delivered into your inbox. See this FAQ for more details. If you have any questions, please contact the OneIT Service Desk at help.charlotte.edu.

Did you know? Approximately 1 million spam messages are filtered per month
(or 30K per day) for UNC Charlotte.
