• 12/18/23 – Woodward router upgrade: 6 – 7 p.m.
• 12/18/23 – Cone router upgrade: 6 – 7 p.m.
• 12/19/23 – Belk Gym router upgrade: 8 – 9 a.m. 
• 12/19/23 – South Village Dining Hall switch upgrade: 6  – 8 a.m.
• 12/19/23 – Counseling switch upgrade: 6 – 8 a.m.
• 12/20/23 – Foundation Annex switch upgrade:6 a.m. – 8 a.m.
• 12/20/23 – Levine building router/switch upgrade: 6 – 10 p.m.
• 12/21/23 – King building router/switch upgrade: 6 – 10 p.m.

Tuesday, 12/19/23; 8:30 – 9 a.m.
Disable the existing integration between Zoom and Kaltura 
Zoom recordings will no longer be available to faculty in the My Media space in a Canvas course. Recordings will have to be manually downloaded from Zoom then uploaded to Studio for recurring use.

Switch from Cisco phones to Zoom Phone for the majority of campus
Switch from Windstream phone provider to Zoom; reconfigure requested phones to work with Zoom. The actual numbers will be ported between 11:30 – 12:30 pm. For people using Jabber or Talkdesk there should be no impact. Physical phone users may be unable to use their phones starting at 2 p.m. Monday night when they start getting licensed.

• Friday, 10/20/23 
  • Change #7829: 6-10 p.m.: Upgrading network hardware, no outage is anticipated although there could be short intermittent blips while equipment is replaced.
  • Change #7826: 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Upgrade building routers in Bioinformatics; There will be network outages that will impact wired, phones and wireless connectivity for these locations during these times.
• Saturday, 10/21/23 
  • Change #7828: 6 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Meraki wireless APs will be upgraded. This will  be a rolling upgrade so no outages are expected in buildings with this equipment.
  • Change #7826: 8 a.m.  –  1 p.m.: Colvard, replacing building routers in Colvard; There will be network outages that will impact wired, phones and wireless connectivity for these locations during these times.
  • Change #7827: 6 pm – 10 pm: Upgrading network hardware, no outage is anticipated although there could be short intermittent blips while equipment is replaced.
• Sunday, 10/22/23
  • Change #7826: 6 a.m. – 7 a.m.: – Replacing building routers in Facilities (PPS), Student Union, EPIC; There will be network outages that will impact wired, phones and wireless connectivity for these locations during these times.
  • Change #7865: 12:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m. – Patch hardware in Smith, Fretwell and Cameron buildings During this time there will be intermittent network outages affecting wired, phone and wireless in these buildings.
• Monday, 10/23/23
  • Change #7866: 10/23/2023 6:00 a.m. – 10/24/23 6:00 a.m. – Disable TLS 1.0 and redboot servers. One set of servers will be rebooted on 10/23 and a different set on 10/24. There is no expected user impact.
  • Change #7857: 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Bi-yearly Camera system update. The cameras need a firmware update, and the software needs to be patched—no user impact.

Several different networking upgrades are being done during this maintenance window:

  • Deploy charlotte.edu email aliases: Add charlotte.edu email aliases for all accounts within the production @uncc.edu Google Workspace. Customers will be notified by direct email when this work is completed. No outage is expected however customers should log out/login when work is completed. See Project 391 website for additional information.
• Friday, May 19, 2023 5:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
  • Data Center Fabric Code Update: The Domain Controller fabric controller will be upgraded in a sequenced manner. All non-redundantly connected servers will experience a total loss of network connectivity during the respective switch updates; 15 to 30 minute outages are expected for:
    • HPC Data Center in Bioinfomatics
    • Atkins Data Center
    • OneIT Data Center in RUP5
    • NVR services should expect a loss of security video access
    • OneIT VMWare hosting should see little to no outages since all connections are redundant.

  • Perceptive Content Upgrade: During this time the system will be unavailable. Current version of the PC software client will be upgraded as part of this process.

Qualtrics Domain Name Update: Qualtrics URLs will change from uncc.qualtrics.com to qualtrics.charlotte.edu. There should NOT be any downtime when this change is made and old URLs (i.e. uncc.qualtrics.com) will continue to work but will be redirected to new URLs.

Firepower Snort Engine: No outages expected. There will be a momentary traffic loss since the current inspection engine needs to be shut down.

Networking equipment upgrade: No anticipated impact.

7 a.m. – 8 a.m.

Barnhardt Student Activities Center Router Upgrade: The building router will be replaced, there will be no networking in this building during this time.

Monday, Oct 10th

7 a.m. – Midnight

Smith Building Wireless Access Points: Wireless Access Point Deployment in the Smith Building. New wireless access points will be deployed on Monday Oct 10th from 7 a.m. – Midnight. Building occupants may experience intermittent wireless issues when access points are swapped out.

VPN upgrade: VPN users will be prompted to update the VPN during login.

Rebuild Engineering web servers: individuals may get logged out of web applications and need to log back in.

Phillips Field: Building switches will be replaced; there will be no networking during this time.

OneIT will be doing extended maintenance from 5 pm Friday July 1st until 9 am Saturday July 2nd. During this time, building switches, routers and storage will be upgraded. This work should have no impact on our customers. OneIT will also be performing disaster recovery testing on Friday July 1st, 2022 from 11 pm – 2 am. Users will not be able to access the main website as well as most campus web services and systems including my.charlotte.edu, Canvas, Gmail, GCal, Google Drive, the VPN and Zoom. Phone services will not be impacted. .
